About Us

History of the Veterans Freedom Music Festival

The 8th Annual Veterans Freedom Music Festival, on August 4, 2018 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm in The Railyard be the Cube, is originally the brain child of Terry Gillispie, from Lincoln Nebraska. In 2011, Terry asked Dave Rusk, a local radio executive and "self styled musician" if he would play some music for the veterans at the Lincoln VA hospital.

Dave played the first year, but both he and Terry saw an opportunity to turn his idea into something really meaningful for Lincoln families and as a way to honor our Veterans. '

The Next Step...

Dave and Terry along with a host of volunteers and donors came together and formed the Veterans Freedom Music Festival as a benefit for veterans. The 2018 event was August 4, from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm in The Railyard below the Cube.

The Festival has grown quickly and 2019 will be our 9th year. The Top Bands in the area are featured, and this event has become "Lincoln's Largest FREE Outdoor Music Festival"!

Mission of the Veterans Freedom Music Festival

The Mission of the Veterans Freedom Music Festival, is to offer a free outdoor live music event to:

  1. Expose Veterans to the benefits and programs that are offered to them through the Veteran's Administration.
  2. Give the public an opportunity to say to our Veterans "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE"
