The 10th Annual Veterans Freedom Music Festival at the Lincoln VA (Veteran's Administration) at 600 South 70th Street in Lincoln, was held on Sunday, 13 June, 2021.
It is interesting to note that the the VA building is on the United State Registry and was completed in 1931. The building was the first Veterans Administration building in the US.
The Veterans Freedom Music Festival is originally the brain child of Terry Gillispie, from Lincoln Nebraska. In 2011, Terry asked Dave Rusk, a local radio executive and "self styled musician" if he would play some music for the veterans at the Lincoln VA hospital.
Dave played the first year, but both he and Terry saw an opportunity to turn his idea into something really meaningful for Lincoln families and as a way to honor our Veterans. '
Dave and Terry along with a host of volunteers and donors came together and formed the Veterans Freedom Music Festival as a benefit for veterans. The 2021 event will be held in the park at the Lincoln VA.
The Festival has grown quickly and 2021 was the 10th year. The Top Bands in the area were featured, and the event is "Lincoln's Largest FREE Outdoor Music Festival"!
