The 9th Annual Veterans Freedom Music Festival which was held on June 1, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM in The Railyard below the Cube, is originally the brain child of Terry Gillispie, from Lincoln Nebraska. In 2011, Terry asked Dave Rusk, a local radio executive and "self styled musician" if he would play some music for the veterans at the Lincoln VA hospital.
Dave played the first year, but both he and Terry saw an opportunity to turn his idea into something really meaningful for Lincoln families and as a way to honor our Veterans. '
Dave and Terry along with a host of volunteers and donors came together and formed the Veterans Freedom Music Festival as a benefit for veterans. The 2019 event was held on June 1, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM in The Railyard below the Cube.
The Festival has grown quickly and 2019 was our 9th year. The Top Bands in the area were featured, and this event quickly became "Lincoln's Largest FREE Outdoor Music Festival"!
